IASSI has always involved itself in matters of social concern and issues. Knowledge and information that could be relevent for resolving social problems are generated in autonomous academic institutions and bodies in course of research and teaching activities, IASSI brings these bodies together in meaningful dialogues, exchange and cooperation so as to crystallize ideas which could be useful for evolving solutions to such problems.

IASSI has been organising seminars and conferences on matters of social concern. It has also been producing theme based issues of the journal bringing together contributions of individual experts on various aspects of a social issue.
