in terms of education and health are at lower levels of poverty.

nutrition aspect was stressed.

agricultural growth was highlighted as the most effective way of reducing rural poverty
Studies brought out that
on increase of public investments towards rural development, irrigation, communication
etc. as means to improve agriculture helped reduction of poverty
Need for studies to
explore the contours of casualization process in the employment sphere, evidenced in
recent trends, was stressed.
Need for giving thought
to wage rate to be offered in the context of employment generation programme was stressed.
Need for re-establishing
links between agricultural and non-agricultural activities and income in the rural areas
was stressed.
Suggestions for appropriate development and employment generation
programme, targeted on a community or a population group was made.
Possession of education
and productive skills and of productive resources has been identified as a way to escape
poverty at individual plane.
Doubts were expressed
about the capability of the present programmes of allocation of poverty to take care of
the problems of poverty without support from other development-related policies.
Feelings crystallized
that aspect of employment needs to be dealt independently without linking with the problem of poverty.
